    ABOUT PNGUoT Sustainable Energy Research Institute (SERI)

     

    PNGUoT SERI is aPrivate-Public-Partnership (PPP) organisation owned jointly by Papua New Guinea University of Technology, The Government of PNG and start-up collaboration with Mayur Power Generation (MPG Ltd).

    SERI was inaugurated in 2017By Dr Ora Renagi with a mandate to initiate, participate, collaborate and enhance PNGUoT staff and student-inclusive research activities in the area of sustainable (renewable and non-renewable) energy research, energy technology development and deployment, for the benefit of the University, our collaborators, the Government and People of PNG, and entire mankind. SERI is inaugurated secondarily to be the custodian and the ‘library’ of all credible information and comprehensive data-base pertaining to all forms of energy, energy research and energy development technology in PNG without exception. This is the portrait of our knowledge-based, student and community-focused blueprint.

  • Our Non Commercial Activities

    Conscious of the fact thatwe are the principal trainers of Energy Engineers in PNG, our primary objective is to assist our main sponsor (GoPNG) to achieve the climate friendly renewable energy goals as outlined in the government policy. Our Secondary goal is to reach out to the community and find ways to use our members’ skills and knowledge to improve the quality of life of PNG citizens especially the large population in rural communities. We pursueour goals by carrying out renewable energy research and maintain professional relationships with other local and international Research andEducational Institutions (with similar interest). We also maintain relationships with:

  • Our Commercial Activities

     

     

    In addition to our researchand product development activities, we participate in Renewable Energy
    Infrastructure contracting, deployment as well as the Professional Training of Renewable
    Energy Practitioners such as Electricians, Renewable Energy Installers and
    Company Design Engineers.

    We are a not-for-profitorganisation. Our rates are therefore negotiable and “means-tested”.
